I am so excited to announce that Betinnis in Brea is having a charity benefit for my son Jackson {huge applause} Jackson was diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago with TYPE 1 Diabetes. Since his diagnoses we have been a part of the PADRE Foundation at CHOC Hospital. We are raising money to help support The PADRE Foundation and BETINNIS is helping us do that!!!

    Picture                                                                                                                                                             The PADRE Foundation (Pediatric Adolescent Diabetes ResearchandEducation) plays a critical role in the education and support of children with diabetes and their families.  We would ask that you partner with us and be a vital part in the success of our mission.


Each year the PADRE Foundation hosts an annual fashion show as a fundraiser highlighting the children of PADRE performing and modeling in the latest fashions, compliments of Macy’s.  The fashion show provides positive psychosocial support for children and their families while raising the funds necessary to support our educational programs.  

For over 25 years, the PADRE Foundation has been dedicated to helping children from birth to age 21 understand and manage their Type 1 diabetes.  PADRE serves more than 2,500 families of all backgrounds in Southern California while partnering with these leading hospitals: CHOC Children’s, CHOC at Mission Hospital, Hoag Memorial Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente.

The 23rd Annual PADRE Fashion Show will be held at the Anaheim Marriott, Saturday, May 12, 2012, in Anaheim, California. Our theme, “PADRE Kids Rock!,” embodies the hope and support PADRE has provided to children and their families throughout the years.

What’s For Lunch?

 Every morning I make Jackson’s lunch. Its not a very exciting lunch. He pretty much has the same thing everyday. PB&J a fruit and chips or pretzels. I try to get him to have something different but he loves his Smuckers PB&J .
   When we were Dx’d in the hospital one of the 1st carb meals he got was a a Smuckers PB&J and he has loved that sandwich every since.  

   This lunch was 45 carb grams. I write the carb count on a little post it and put inside of his lunch box . At lunch time our wonderful school nurse looks the carb count and will bolus him for the carbs {A round of applause for our school nurse}.
